VERITAS PANCIU - General presentation

Located to the south, south-east of the country, set at the bend of the Middle Carpathians, Vrancea county – an ancient cradle of Romanian civilization – is a bridge of economic and socio-cultural liaison between the three historical provinces: Moldova, Tara Romaneasca (Walachia) and Transylvania.

The grapes and wines produced here are the most representative from the point of view of quality and quantity.

Panciu, a historical land of vine and wine, has been throughout the centuries an important landmark of the region between Putna and Trotus, the Wolves’ lair at Zboina Neagra and the fields with bearing the memory of the heroes who died at Marasesti.

Located at an altitude of 334 m above the sea level, the vine enjoys here favorable pedo-climatic conditions, namely: average annual temperatures of 9.20C, rainfall: 510 l/sqm, while the predominant soil type is the brown-reddish one. The active vegetation period is of approximately 185 days, ensuring the normal development of the vine. The average hours of sunshine are approximately 2000.

Equally important is the vicinity to the E85 national road, facilitating product distribution to both domestic and foreign beneficiaries.

Placed at the very core of the Panciu vineyard, S.C. Veritas Panciu S.A. mainly deals with yielding, industrialization and commercialization of viticulture products, service-rendering, import-export activity.

Set up in 1949, Veritas Panciu has complied with the same quality coordinates throughout its 50-year existence.

S.C. Veritas Panciu S.A. is an symbolof the Panciu vineyard, being famous both nationally and internationally; the 1000 ha making up the entire vineyard area yield constant grape productions each and every year.

The current conditions for grape processing, wine storage and conditioning are among the most modern, as maximum output is assured both by people’s skills and the technical state-of-the-art equipment imported from Italy, Germany and France.

Professor Valeriu D. Cotea, member of the Romanian Academy, came up with the most eloquent description of the Panciu wines: “Panciu wines stand out through their softness, their alcohol concentration is not very high and they are supported by a certain acidity that renders them fresher and fruitier. They can entertain the consumer for hours on end without inebriating him at a fast pace. In other words, you may toast to the health of the others without ruining your own.”

Paraphrasing the ancient “IN VINO VERITAS”, one may say “IN VINO SANITAS” about Panciu wines, because they convey something of the health and sweetness of the earth, the golden of the sun and the technology, toil and skill of the people actually making it.

Veritas Panciu means skill and professionalism manifested through rigorousness upon enforcing the most modern technologies for creating new plantations or maintaining the old ones. While speaking of vines at Veritas Panciu, you don’t refer strictly to the existing natural conditions and the technology, but also the varieties ensuring the company’s performance. That is why a 6-hectare viticulture plantation was founded in order make an experience called “Research on the behavior of new varieties and valuable clones for eating and wine grapes and certain resilient varieties given the production conditions of the Panciu vineyard”.

Specialists have experimented 75 varieties and clones so as to discover the possibility of adapting them to soil-specific conditions, resilient to diseases, production, ripening time. Depending on the actual results obtained, S.C. has introduced the most suited varieties into production.

Thanks to their quality, Panciu wines have long crossed the Romanian borders. Nowadays, wines produced at Panciu are famous in such countries as the U.K., Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Russia, Japan and the US. But the fame of the Panciu Company is largely due to the production of Champenoise-type sparkling wines, both white and red, as per the gross, extra-gross, dry and medium-dry variants.

Veritas Panciu is currently a shareholding trade company, whose owners are the same persons performing the viticulture activities. The youth and dynamism of the General Manager Adrian Toma, combined with the oenologists’ experience, constitute a masterpiece destined entirely and exclusively to customers.

When we speak of Veritas, you speak of tradition, skill, hard work, all placed at the disposal of the consumer, you speak of trade, distribution networks, marketing always on the offensive.

Through permanent contacts with domestic and foreign businessmen, the company’s general manager and its team of managers have ensured the selling of Panciu products at prices reflecting the quality and the diversity of the Vrancea vineyard. The main purpose is to maintain an economic and financial balance in view of streamlining all products and activities, obtaining an enhanced output and allotting investments to the most profitable sectors.

The company is currently enjoying a solid prestige based on the results obtained throughout its 50-year long activity.

The General Manager and the entire managerial team are preoccupied with turning the Veritas Panciu wine and champagne into the most eloquent ambassador.
